Programme of Studies

Pupils in Christian Brothers College normally follow a six year programme of studies to Leaving Certificate

Junior Cycle

Religious Knowledge Civil, Social and Political Education Irish
English French Latin
German Mathematics Science
Business Studies Computer Studies History
Geography Music & Musicianship Art

 

This ensures that a pupil who has completed the Junior Cycle will have all the avenues of career development open to him.

 

Transition Year

The Department of Education and Science now requires that all pupils sit the Junior Certificate Examination after three years. This examination relaced the Intermediate Certificate in 1992. Pupils who have completed the Junior Cycle follow a one year Transition Programme followed by the two year Leaving Certificate course.

Art Computer Studies Social & Scientific Studies

 

All subjects are available at ordinary and higher level. Pupils normally take seven subjects for Leaving Certificate - English, Irish, and Mathematics, and a selection of four other subjects. Certain subjects are available after normal school hours should students wish to take an extra examination subject.
